Telecor CVS The Best
of Both Worlds |
|
The Telecor CVS has
been developed with the latest technology from two outstanding products to provide schools
with a powerful and seamless telephone, intercom, page, and program system. It combines an
advanced telephone system from the business environment with a traditional intercom system
for internal school communications. The CVS system brings to the educational market a set
of standard features not found on independent school telephone and intercom systems.
|
|
|
|
|
Standard
features of the CVS include:
Voice Mail
Every telephone is equipped with its
own voice mail box.
Enhanced 911
Every phone in the system can access
911 regardless of its restriction status or if all lines are busy.
On Site 911 Notification
When a 911 call is placed,
designated staff are alerted by phone, and also by a recorded message, which announces the
origin of the call, over selected speakers.
Do Not Disturb
Individual teachers and staff can place
their phone in the "Do Not Disturb" mode. This will prevent their phone from
ringing and automatically route incoming calls to their voice mail box so that no calls
are lost. Teachers and staff are notified that they have a voice mail message by a light
on their phone.
16 Party Conferencing
Short meetings can be accomplished
telephonically by utilizing 3 telephonic conference rooms. Sixteen parties can participate
in each room and all three rooms can operate simultaneously. Conference room doors can be
locked to allow for privacy.
Homework Helpline
The system is provided with the
homework helpline feature. This feature allows up to 200 instructors to leave homework
information in the system. Access to recording homework material is password-protected and
can be accessed from the teacher's phone at home or at school. Students and parents can
retrieve this information from their home telephone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Urgent Call
Schools require that teachers have the
ability to place an urgent call to the office in emergency situations. The CVS system
provides this feature from any phone in the system. The Urgent Call feature rings a group
of designated phones and displays the priority level and the extension location of the
call. In addition to displaying the call, a voice message is played over a selected group
of speakers, identifying the location of the call. The first phone to answer the call is
connected.
Crisis Control
Using the classroom and hallway
speakers, the school building can be programmed for listen-in by area. The building can be
divided into 8 areas. By dialing a special code from any telephone in the system or from
outside the building, the speakers can be activated, allowing rescue personnel to monitor
activity in the location of the crisis.
Auto Attendant
The school's telephone operator is
required to perform numerous tasks and is not always available to answer every phone call.
The CVS system provides an auto attendant feature, allowing the callers to route
themselves to individuals or groups without the assistance of the receptionist.
Two Communication Paths per
Classroom
In addition to the classroom telephone,
the room speaker can be used as a second communications path to the classroom. This
ensures that intercom calls and paging announcements will be heard even when the phone is
in use. By utilizing classroom speakers rather than business speakerphone instruments,
quality hi-fi reproduction, with sufficient audio power, ensures that teachers can hear
and be heard from anywhere in the classroom. This path can be accessed by any telephone in
the system. In addition, telephones outside the facility, such as the 911 operator, can
get access.
Panic Buttons
As an optional feature, panic buttons
can be installed in the classrooms to alert a designated group of display phones in
emergency situations. The system can support buttons for every classroom or for a
selective number of rooms.
Speaker to Phone Switching
The system provides for the automatic
switching of conversation over the classroom speaker to the classroom telephone, by simply
lifting the classroom telephone handset.
Auto Page
Before and after school hours, when
teachers may not be in their classrooms, they can be automatically paged by the auto
attendant. A message is played over the school's paging speakers that announces the
extension of the phone being called. The teacher simply dials the extension number from
any phone in the system and the call is automatically transferred to the teacher. If the
page is not answered, the call will automatically go to their voice mail box. This call
process is conducted without operator assistance.
Cordless Phone
Every display phone is equipped with a
cordless phone jack to allow for the use of a cordless phone. This phone can then become
an extension to the display phone. Adminstrators and security staff can move about the
school with a cordless phone and receive and make calls as if they were at their desks.

Why Telecor's CVS Telephone System
Is The Right Choice For Schools |
|
|
|
The Telecor CVS
System is designed for each school's unique telephone applications. It contains features
not found in standard school telephone systems |
|
Voice Mail
Voice mail boxes are available to every telephone in the system as a standard feature. No
special voice mail software is required. The system will automatically notify staff when
they have a voice mail message by illuminating the telephone's message waiting lamp. Voice
mail notifications to Digital Pagers can alert staff of new messages in their mail box.
Messages can be retrieved from on or off premises, and can also be transferable to other
mail boxes. Principals can broadcast a message to their entire staff simultaneously. Up to
200 guest mail boxes are available for traveling teachers. Teachers can place their phone
on "Do Not Disturb" which will prevent their phone from ringing and
automatically route calls to their voice mail box. Users are advised every time they
access their mail box as to how many old and new messages they have.
Homework Helpline
CVS provides a homework helpline feature which allows up to 200 instructors to record
homework information into the system by themselves. Students and parents have access to
this information from their home telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition,
students and parents can leave messages for the teachers. The ability to record homework
information is password protected and can be accomplished from any phone, on or off
premises, by the teachers.
Enhanced 911
Every phone in the system can dial 911 even if all lines are busy. While calling the
Public Safety Answering Point, the system simultaneously notifies a select group of
display phones that a 911 call has been placed, along with extension number from where the
call was placed. Also a voice notification message is played over a selected group of
speakers. The 911 operator has the option to listen and/or speak to the 911 caller over
the classroom speaker.
Urgent Call
Schools require that teachers have the ability to place an urgent call to the office in
emergency situations. The CVS provides that feature from any phone in the system. The
"Urgent Call" rings a group of designated display phones and displays
"Urgent Call". The first phone in the group that answers the call is connected.
In addition, an Urgent Call voice message with the identity of the location is
played over a select group of speakers.
Do Not Disturb
Any of the telephones connected to the CVS system may be placed in the "Do Not
Disturb" mode of operation. While in this mode, the phone will not ring and anyone
calling will be automatically routed to the party's voice mail box. The voice mail message
lamp on the party's telephone provides notification of a message in their mail box.
Attendant 98TM
Attendant 98 is an optional software application for the WindowsTM operating system. When loaded
onto a user's PC, it adds the functionality of a reception console to the PC screen. The
receptionist can process calls while working on other WindowsTM applications. Since the
application is simple to use, no extensive training or experience is necessary. Maximum
efficiency is immediately apparent, as more calls can be answered quickly and more
information can be passed along with each call. Graphic icons show the current status of
all active lines and extensions. The power of the computer is able to provide the operator
with a vast amount of information about each telephone extension and the calls. Caller ID
and Call Status information is readily available on the screen. Call processing is easily
managed by using point-and-click of the mouse, one-touch access to function keys on the
keyboard, keyboard shortcuts or a combination of all three. Different user configurations
allow the operator to streamline operations by integrating their personal work habits with
Attendant 98.
Connect 98TM
Connect 98 is an optional software application similar to Attendant 98 that allows for a
telephone to be enhanced or replaced with a PC. Calls can be answered and directed to
extensions while working in other Windows applications. Connect 98 includes a phonebook,
extension and shortcut keys to simplify call handling. It has many of the features of
Attendant 98, without the sophistication and the detailed call processing capabilities
required by a receptionist.
Auto
Attendant
The school's receptionist is often required to perform numerous tasks and is not always
available to answer calls promptly, especially during peak activity periods prior to the
beginning of classes and at the end of the school day. The CVS system includes 20 built-in
Auto Attendants that can answer and route incoming calls, enhancing call processing
capabilities and eliminating the need for a dedicated attendant.
Server Based System
An open CTI architecture allows the school to build and add WindowsTM based telephone
applications not possible with conventional microprocessor based PBX and Electronic Key
systems.
Cordless Phone
The CVS system ensures that even the most mobile school staff members are able to receive
and make phone calls. A standard cordless phone can be connected to the display phone's
data jack. When staff members are away from their desks, they simply take a cordless
handset with them, and it rings when a call rings at their extension. The cordless phone
becomes an extension of the display phone. No additional extensions or special programming
is required.
16 Party Conferencing
The system is provided with 3 telephonic conference rooms that allow 16 parties to be in a
single conference within each room. This is in addition to the normal 3-party conference
feature. |

Server Based Platform
The Telecor CVS is a Server-Based Platform, which allows the school to take advantage of
the power of the computer. By utilizing industry standard WindowsTM software, a school can begin to build and tailor
sophisticated WindowsTM based telephone
applications not possible with conventional digital microprocessor-based PBXs and
Electronic Key Systems, such as Unified Messaging and Automatic Voice Call Return. A
Server-Based Platform allows the school to integrate the phone system with already present
internal data resources, and also provides the school with a telephone system that is
software-drivennot proprietary hardware-driven. The CVS is capable of being fully
networkable by utilizing industry standard NT operating software.
Security Plan Enhancements
The Telecor CVS includes enhanced 911 capability, including constant line availability and
on-site 911 notification. Classrooms have the capability to make urgent call-ins, and CVS
Crisis Control allows rescue teams communication with perilous locations. The CVS also
provides cordless telephone communications and can interface with other on-site security
systems.
Single Source of Responsibility
A single system provides the school with its total voice needs, thus eliminating the
concern of interfacing several systems. A single system also provides the school with one
manufacturer that has sole responsibility for complete functionality, which eliminates the
difficulty of defining individual manufacturer responsibility.
Factory Trained Contractors
Telecor has over 165 factory- trained certified installation and service organizations
throughout the United States and Canada.

Security Issues are of Primary Concern for
School Administrators, Teachers, and Parents |
The CVS Voice
Communications System from Telecor provides the school with highly important security
features that are not found in a standard school telephone system.School districts are
demanding that their voice communications systems have the capability to assist in their
security plan implementation. As part of its standard features, the CVS System includes:
Enhanced 911
(standard feature)
Each telephone in the system has the ability to place a 911 call regardless of its
restriction status. If all outgoing lines are busy, an outside line will automatically be
seized for initiating the 911 Call.
On Site Notification
(standard feature)
A pre-selected group of display telephones will be notified when a 911 call is placed. The
phones within the group will ring, and the extension number of the phone initiating the
911 call, as well as the "911 CALL" prefix, will be displayed. The phones will
continue to ring until the call is acknowledged by picking up a handset and clearing the
call. In addition, the staff will be alerted by a voice message over a designated group of
loudspeakers, which will announce the extension that placed the 911 call. No special
telephone lines are required for this feature.
911 Alternative Voice Path
(standard feature)
The 911 operator has the ability to establish two-way open voice communications over the
classroom speaker. No special phone lines are required.
Urgent Call
(standard feature)
Schools need the ability to call for assistance in case of an urgent situation. Any
telephone in the system has the ability to place an urgent call internally. This call will
ring a selected group of display phones, and display the priority level and extension
number of the phone initiating the urgent call. The extension number will also be
announced over a group of loudspeakers, alerting staff. Any phone in the selected group
can answer the call by lifting the handset.
Crisis Control
(standard feature)
Using the classroom and hallway speakers, the school can be programmed for listen-in by
area. The building can be divided into 8 areas. By dialing a special code from any
telephone in the system, the speakers in the crisis location can be activated for
monitoring by rescue personnel. This monitoring can take place from within the building,
or from an outside facility. Two-way open voice communications can also be conducted using
the same speakers in order to direct students and staff to safety.
